Consultant
Social Ventures Australia (SVA) Consulting is the consulting division of Social Ventures Australia.

SVA was established in 2002, as an independent non-profit organisation which aligns the interests of philanthropists with the needs of organisations and entrepreneurs to address some of Australia’s most pressing social challenges. Our guiding passion is to bring fresh thinking and new approaches to help these Australians break out of the cycle of disadvantage. All our efforts are ultimately directed towards this goal.

Within the consulting division we work with a range of non-profit organisations and funders (philanthropic foundations, corporates, individuals and government) to design customised, results-driven solutions including strategy development, program design and review, boards and governance and evaluation including SROI (Social Return on Investment). All of our engagements focus on assisting our clients to achieve greater social impact.

We believe that results are driven by four levers: a clear purpose, identification and design of the most effective strategy to pursue that purpose; access to smart money to fund the strategy; and efficient and effective allocation and use of resources (including boards). We exist to strengthen these levers, enabling the non-profit sector to deliver sustainable social improvement to disadvantaged Australians.

Position
We are looking for a dynamic, confident self-starter with exceptional analytical and communication skills to work in our Melbourne office as a Consultant. In return you will be part of a rapidly growing, exciting and diverse team, and an integral part of this unique business.

Responsibilities
Each Consultant’s responsibilities will vary from case to case depending on the needs of the client.

Typical responsibilities include:
Bullet Scoping client projects
Bullet Conducting qualitative research and analysis through interviews with non-profit client staff, client beneficiaries, and experts in the field
Bullet Conducting quantitative research and analysis of the non-profit marketplace
Bullet Working with management and boards of client organisations
Bullet Conducting financial analysis, including forward-looking financial projections
Bullet Preparing clear and compelling presentation materials
Bullet Facilitating and presenting analysis and findings; and
Bullet Capturing and sharing knowledge both internally and externally

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have at least two years experience working with a top-tier strategic consulting firm, blended with experience in hands on operations and business development and must be able to demonstrate experience with, understanding and commitment to the non-profit sector. You will also need a high tolerance for ambiguity, uncertainty and complexity, and will be self-driven and highly motivated.

If you have the skills and experience we're looking for, please email your resume including professional referees (who will be contacted only with your permission) and cover letter addressing the requirements outlined above to Olivia Hilton.

Applications close on Friday 6 August 2010.
